Thomas (1801?-1892) and Ellen Cahir (nee Liddy)
were married in 1838 in the townland of Martyr, near Kilfenora.
They came to Geelong from Corofin in County Clare on the Cambodia
in 1852 with their three children Bartholomew, Margaret and Mary
(Thomas born here) - listed below. Both buried at Buninyong.
There is a town named Cahir in Tipperary. Cahirs still live at
Ennis in County Clare.
(Did the Cahirs know the Mulqueeny's in Ireland?
Both had relatives in Ennis, County Clare, and both dis-embarked
in Geelong in 1852).
Bartholomew ---(Bat) Cahir (1838-1924) Born in County Clare. Bat bought a farm at Lal lal, 40 kms south of Ballarat. Married Bridget Delaney (1848-74). No children. Bridget died while giving birth to a still born child. After Bridget's death, Bat married Mary Mulquiny 1846-1928). Both buried at Clarendon, near Buninyong. Bartholomew and Mary had eight children:

married James Laurence OMeara (?-16/3/1936)
Married on 9/6/03 at Lal lal by Fr. Murphy. Moved to Galong (north of Yass) NSW. There is a photo of her wedding, with Tom Cahir and Annie Cahir. After Nellie's death, James married Evie Osler, daughter of Edward Osler and Ann Mulquiny. Children:.

- Thomas Francis (Tom) Cahir. (1878-1911) Went to the Boer war, 1901-1902, a Private in the Fifth Mounted Rifles Contingent. Buried Clarendon.
Maria (Annie) Cahir married Brian Dillon. (Tyremaker,- Ballarat) Brother of Pat Dillon, who married Louise Osler, daughter of Edward Osler & Anne Mulquiny. When Annie died, Brian married Alice Kift. Children:

Helena Margaret Cahir (1892-1919) (painter) (died of TB) Buried at Clarendon. Witness to Isabella's marriage.
Bartholomew (Barth) Cahir (1890-1929)
Married Mary Veronica (Vera) Barry (1899-1975). Ran the Cahir's farm at Lal lal. Worked at an orchard near Swan Hill. Buried new Ballarat cemetery. Children:
